A couple of weeks ago I held an enjoyable, sold-out acoustic guitar Gypsy Jazz workshop at a fabulous venue in Margate, Kent called Rosslyn Court.
Guitarists from all over Kent came along to learn some of the characteristics of this amazing style of playing pioneered by the great Django Reinhardt (1910-1953).
Some of the attendees had some experience playing this style but mainly there were many who were just dipping their toe into the Django pool for the first time.
We focused on rhythm (La Pompe) and melody/soloing disciplines. Each one is a huge topic so my main endeavor was to get everyone playing whilst giving them a 'use right away' set of techniques to add to the skills they already knew on guitar.
Here's a couple of snaps from the afternoon.
I'm hoping to hold another Gypsy Jazz guitar workshop at Rosslyn Court at some point during the Summer, details will be announced over the next month or so.
If you're interested in having Gypsy Jazz guitar lessons I teach regularly one-to-one either at my home or via Skype or FaceTime.

Or if you'd like me to come to an area and hold a workshop either in or out of Kent then please drop me a line at info@jonnyhepbir.co.uk and let's chat.
If you would like to hire one of my Gypsy Jazz band line-ups for an event, wedding or party, please visit my BAND HIRE PAGE.
Lastly, here's a small video clip from the workshop afternoon where I got everyone playing Blues En Mineur/Swing 48 by Django. This was great fun because for quite a few people, they had never ventured beyond G, C & D. Good pomping everyone!
