Top UK Gypsy jazz band filming new videos in Kent.
It’s been three and a half years since we filmed some songs with my different BAND LINE-UPS. It was all very successful as our YOUTUBE channel can testify, but now it was time to do it again but slightly differently. This time we went back to basics, keeping it simple with a few new tunes for both the JONNY HEPBIR TRIO and JONNY HEPBIR QUARTET.
Everyone is aware we use only top class musicians for violin, accordion and clarinet/sax duties when different instrumentation is used for all the celebrations, weddings, corporate events and private functions we play at. So I thought it would be good to strip things down for the new videos to the original format that proved so successful back in 2010 when we first started filming.
This time we went for the full vintage feel, clothing and song-wise, also since moving to Margate a couple of years ago, I wanted to help put a friend’s fabulous micropub/bar on the International map.
The town has seen a massive influx of the hip, the cool and the arty come in over the last few years with big regeneration taking place. Arguably, the finest, quirkiest place in town to have a drink and hang out is the fabulous FEZ bar located in the High Street. Run and owned by the exceptionally charismatic Phil Evans, it’s become a very popular spot for locals and non-locals alike. With regular music of all genres and an extremely loyal clientele, it seemed only fitting that I decided to take up Phil’s generous offer of using the bar for our videos. To say thank you in a small way, we played a low-key gig there on the evening of the filming. We had a fantastic time and the place was rammed!
