To mark 10 years of JONNY HEPBIR TRIO and JONNY HEPBIR QUARTET playing, we've released two retrospective compilation albums chosen from the last decade of band recordings.
Cheekily titled 'WOW! THAT'S WHAT I CALL SWING VOL 1 & VOL 2' they are available on BANDCAMP as downloads. We'll be getting physical copies made once we're back out and gigging hopefully when lockdown restrictions are lifted.
Bandcamp are kindly waiving their commission on Friday June 5th and Friday July 3rd to help out all musicians affected by the coronavirus pandemic. So if you fancy supporting our musical endeavors, please head over there on those dates.
Both albums have 12 tracks of pumping swing and cost £7 (GBP) each with the option of paying more if you wish.
There are also four other albums available to download.
Two of these are our previous Trio release 'LA POMPE & CIRCUMSTANCE' and Quartet release 'GET RICH OR DIE SWINGIN'.
There's also a wild Duo album with Jonny Hepbir on guitar and Dan Teper on accordion called 'DIRTY SWING'.
A twisted vision of classic Gypsy Jazz themes, jam-packed with notes, humour and dark undertones.
Finally there's the Jonny Hepbir 'originals' album 'GRAND BIZARRE'.
All the music on 'GRAND BIZARRE' was composed and arranged by Jonny in late 1999 and released independently in early 2000.
In 2002 the album was picked up by U.S.A label Refined Records, re-branded and released worldwide as 'Turkish Blend'. This version was minus three tracks to conform with the label's timings lengths on their other releases.
The album was originally conceived as a 'concept' style collection of tunes inspired by a life-changing week in the city of Istanbul in Turkey in 1997.
Combining elements of Gypsy Jazz, classical and world music, Grand Bizarre takes the listener on a winding journey through the bars and cafes of ancient Taksim, down the side streets into some strange clubs during the small hours and back out into the light.
This is the first time the album has been available in it's entirety since 2001 and features contributions by renowned Gypsy Jazz guitarist ROBIN NOLAN, Romanian violin maestro BAZ STANESCU.
