Have you ever wanted to learn how to play swing guitar in the style of Django Reinhardt from the 1930's and 1940's?
This amazing genre of guitar playing with all it's unique characteristics is more popular today than it's ever been.
I have been performing and teaching Gypsy Jazz guitar for over twenty five years all over the UK and internationally. I've had the pleasure of showing guitarists wanting to get into the style, that there are great in-roads that can benefit their playing ability instantly even if they have had no previous experience of it.
On Saturday 29th February at 1.15pm I'm holding a swing guitar workshop for players of all ages and abilities at the fabulous venue Rosslyn Court in Margate, Kent.

An acoustic guitar workshop for players of all ages and abilities
Swing guitar in the style of Django Reinhardt from the 1930's & 1940's.
An introduction to the basics of how to play swing guitar in the style of one of the greatest musicians ever, Django Reinhardt (1910-1953). Despite suffering dreadful injuries after a fire at the age of 18, this Belgium born guitarist went on to develop a unique way of playing that is revered and copied all over the world.
Although the music Django played had it's origins in early jazz, the guitar techniques he used can be applied to all types of guitar playing where a plectrum is used.
This workshop will focus on the two main principles of Django-style, rhythm accompaniment and melody/solo playing.
No theory or reading is necessary as the 'folk' tradition of this style is very much aural. The emphasis will be on playing and having fun through learning. There will be lots of cool tips and tricks to take away and apply to your playing even if you've had no experience of this style before. Workshop Requirements – An acoustic guitar & plectrum. Workshop is from 2-4pm but attendees are asked to arrive at 1.15pm for a 1.30pm start for tea/coffee and introduction chat.
